Umpire training in BC is a hybrid system of an online and an in-person clinic instructed by the BC Baseball Umpires Association (BCBUA). You can attend any in-person clinic in the province to obtain your certification.
Umpires 19+ must pass a criminal record check before being eligible to officiate games. (This is conducted at no cost to the umpire.)
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact our Umpire in Chief for more information.
Step 1: Register/Renew your membership with the BCBUA.
Step 2: Register for and complete the online clinic.
Step 3: Register for and attend an in-person clinic, either locally or anywhere in BC. The Level 1/2 Umpire Clinic will be held in Nelson on Sunday, April 27.
Step 4: Take and achieve a passing grade on the exam contained in the online clinic.
The BCBUA's Roadmap to Excellence explains the steps required to attain all 5 levels of umpire in BC. (This document is from 2018 and some information may have changed in recent years.)
